more fuel for the ia fire :)

I meant to do this ages ago but work has been getting of the way of
lately. Good news is that I appear to still have a job beyond the new year
(when my current contract runs out) so the pressure is off a little.
OK so clearly 5 IA proposals isn't enough, so I thought I'd add my meagre
effort. I've also attached a HTML version for steve to add to his
collection (if he would be so kind).
Fingers crossed, I should be able to make it to IRC on saturday to fight
my corner. See you then, and in the mean time, let the flames roll.

A severe hack Tomas V. V. Cox' proposal - I thought I liked it best but
seem to have hacked it quite a lot ;-)

Notes: First off I shortened all the top level category names to one word.
Seems to me these will look best with Steve's design and IMHO is clearer -
hence the top bar would be;
About . Software . Documentation . Contribute . Support
About: Didn't change much here. Changed Search to Advanced Search because
the latest templates included a simple search box, so I thought we should
offer something more here ;-) Added News and Events here. News always
seems to me like it's the most important thing on the site (certainly it's
what I look for everyday) and maybe should be a top level link all of it's
own? So we could have;
News . About . Software . Documentation . Contribute . Support
Software: Rejigged things a little bit. Latest Software is like the list
on the current frontpage. The software map is the all new kick ass
software map. Software Reviews will die without regular content - this
should also be linked into the software map, i.e. a review is added as
part of the software map entry - this would then be the latest reviews?
Anyway I think this is 2.1 feature
Added themes and general eye candy in here - should themes go in the
software map under Desktop Environment?
Documentation: Introductory doc and all other docs are meant to be what
you see in the help tab in Nautilus. So the idea is Quick Start + FAQ +
Help tab. Maybe someone who understands Nautilus help, scrollkeeper, etc
could suggest how these things might be made to match up nicely.
Contribute: I was never convinced by the splitting of d.g.o into
contribute and development. I like the word contribute because I think it
might encourage more 'non-developer' involvement. However I have no idea
how well this translates.
Jeff's going to hate me for renaming it contribute (you can keep the d.g.o
url though!) but I did it on purpose because d.g.o is the hardest bit of
ia (because there so much damn i) and I wanted to encourage some argument
(I mean discussion ;-).
I didn't keep the way Tomas split contribute and d.g.o because I thought
if Project of the Week doesn't get maintained then Contribute is just
Projects - I never understood what the TODO list was (the todo list for
the whole of gnome!?!?) and why it wouldn't be getter in d.g.o.
I moved Architecture into Devel Docs because it seemed to me to be a doc
describing the architecture ;-)
The Developers sections (List, HOF, DOTW, Interviews) will be dead unless
it has regularly updated content. List of contributers taken from the
software map? A 2.1 feature I think.
Support: Cut out News and Events as they aren't support related.
