This is actually a pretty hard problem. http (and by extent dav) just
doesn't act like you expect "file systems" to act, and they don't
generally act in a dependable way either (each site/server differ). So,
when exposing http as if it was a "simple filesystem" is very tricky to
get all the details right (like cookies, different auth at different
places in the hierarchy, etc).

While we will try to do our best in gvfs to get some form of http
support I really think that applications that need anything above the
most trivial http features should look at using a http-specific API.
