Hey, Another reminder about the lightning talk session. If your name isn't on https://wiki.gnome.org/GUADEC/2016/Talks/Interns yet and you are planning to participate to the session, please let me know. If you are hesitant because English is not your first language/because you are not used to do public presentation/for any reasons, don't worry and step up :) A lightning talk is very short (just a few minutes!), and can be prepared/rehearsed in advance, so it's a very good setup for a first presentation. And it's also a great learning experience. I'll send more details about how the session will happen exactly, but each talk will be a few minutes long, and you can find the slides from past years (you only need a few) at https://people.gnome.org/~teuf/talks/guadec/ and https://gitlab.com/sils/guadec-gsoc-presentations/tree/master If you have any questions/concerns/..., just get in touch! Hi all, this a reminder about the opportunity for lightning talks at GUADEC! On 9 May 2016 at 16:10, Ekaterina Gerasimova <kittykat3756 gmail com> wrote:Hi all, congratulations on your GSoC and Outreachy internships for this summer, and also on the completed winter Outreachy internships! GNOME has an annual conference in Europe, GUADEC[1], which will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany this August. As GNOME interns, you will have the opportunity to present your projects during a lightning talk session which is currently planned for the 12th of August. Lightning talks normally take up to a maximum of 5 minutes and there is no lower limit. I need to know if you are interested in doing this as soon as possible, so please reply to confirm! If you plan to attend GUADEC, you need to talk to your mentors about organising BoFs/hackfests[2]. If your mentors are not planning to attend, you should think about other areas that you're interested in and talk to people about potential sessions. There will be an opportunity to request partial or full travel/accommodation sponsorship from the GNOME Foundation, I will send you more details closer to the time. Please do ask if you have any questions! Kat [1] https://2016.guadec.org/ [2] https://2016.guadec.org/talks/
