Re: Bring back some features of 3.6

Hi Leslie,

Feedback is appreciated. We're sorry to hear you miss the categories from 3.6 and earlier.

Unfortunately, the mailing list isn't the most productive way of getting changes. You can file bugs on bugzilla.gnome.org for your wish to purge entries, and other tings. Apart from that, you can help get involved in building GNOME https://www.gnome.org/get-involved/

Threatening to switch to a different DE will get you nowhere though. You are, as always free to go.

With each linux system I have, I add about 20 other applications to my Linux and in addition, I add KDE.  The number of Icons in the ALL display is in excess of 40.

The ALL setting requires substantial scrolling to find my application.    The FREQUENT Category side of the display is Filled to Maximum.

Gnome 3.6 had filtering by some categories such as programming, internet, etc (the old menu categories).  When will this be ported to 3.8 or 3.9?

I have filled up the Frequent category, and there is no way to purge entries, except to delete the hidden file in my home directory.

If an application is in Favourites, why is it also appearing in Frequent?  This double icon display does not make sense to me.

When will I be able to tag applications that I want to view by filtering with the tag value.  I have different applications that I want to see on Monday, Tuesday, Weekend, and with no constraint.

It does not make sense to me that Gnome 3.8 understands end-user needs.  If I cannot create my own tags or categories who needs to use or recommend Gnome.

I've been a Gnome User for 8 years, and if you have not got a road map of what is coming or required, then its time for me to go with Cinnamon/Mate or KDE.
