Re: My extension has an error but lg says it doesn't...

I did as Clemens suggested an ran GS for a terminal using the --replace argument, if I remember correctly. Then the errors show up in the terminal. I then told GS to reload every time I wanted to try my latest changes. Good luck!

I have a similar problem trying to port my extension to the forthcoming 3.8 release. I used to debug it by running gnome-shell in a terminal and looking for errors logged there. When trying to run my extension I get the following error:

JS LOG: Extension "dash-to-dock micxgx gmail com" had error: Error: Expected type interface for Argument 'actor' but got type 'undefined' (nil)

with no other indication of the file and line where the problem occurs. Neither
~/.cache/gdm/session.log nor  ~/.xsession-errors provide further information.

Any idea of how to find the source of the problem?

Michele

Reporting extension errors in looking glass is broken in 3.6, see
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=690173. Note that even with
the bug fixed, the full error log on stderr is usually much more
useful than the information in looking glass.
