I am also experiencing some performance issue's related to scrolling for a while now. A description of my workflow and connected performance issues is added to the bug report mentioned by Jef Fortin in the mail below.

By the way, is there a way I can help with some performance testing, for instance as is described here: http://blog.fishsoup.net/2010/05/26/measuring-gnome-shell-performance/ ?
