Sorry to dig back a very old thread from November 2011, but I would like
to draw your attention to this bug I had reported with a Radeon r300,
where the issue is much more noticeable than on a Sandybridge:

Perhaps you could investigate whether or not suspend is the trigger to
your issue, too?
