Though it is a preview release, it is stable enough for everyday use as you yourself was using it for 6 months now. You might as well read the previous mails in this mailing list to know the development status of gnome-shell.

I havn't got time to read through all the archives at the moment... but im thinking... theres only about 4 months to go until the stable release of gnome 3/shell... and it hasn't really changed much in that time... if there are alot of new features/design changes to happen... it doesn't leave a whole lot of time to test it and finalise everything.... thats why I asked... its getting very close to release date....
What about my question about effects? any intentions on compiz like effects to be incorporated into mutter? or are we going to lose compiz like effects in gnome-shell? anybody know?
