Firstly I would like to thank all the Gnome Shell Developers and
everyone else who has contributed to the Gnome Shell Project. Secondly I
would like to discuss the communication support in Gnome Shell, by this
I mean how are applications like Evolution and Empathy going to link
with the Gnome Shell.
I was thinking how the sides of the screen could be used and then I
thought there could be a pop-out communication bar, bringing together
contacts (from evolution), emails (from evolution), contacts (from
empathy) and conversations (from empathy) allowing for complex and
integrated user interaction. This could be implemented as versatile
system of plug-ins and widgets so that you can customise it to your
needs.
On the subject of communication in Gnome, does anyone know why evolution
is being ignored as the Gnome groupware client?
Thanks,
Chris (Running Gnome Shell (2.31.2) on Ubuntu Maverick and loving it!)
