Fwd: Tested the latest build

Short answer: No, I don't think the top bar will be customizable.
Long answer: For those that absolutely insist, it kind of already is.

Is it a design decision aimed to fallow trough to Gnome 3.0 that the top bar should be stale and uneditable?
It is fully understandable that you at this point of development do not look at customization, there are much larger things that should be dealt with beforehand.

The Gnome 2.x bar is broken in many peoples eyes. Mostly because it didn't do much, and did what it did with in very limited ways with very small amounts of customization. As I've come to understand wigdets/gadgets/addons will in the shell be represented as more of a Mozzila style of addons rather than the 2.x panel widgets. And this is great allowing developers to integrate their small and nifty applications into the shell, not having to tie them into the very limited space of a panel.

But the what features are in the panel, such as the activities button and hotcorner belonging to it, should all be moveable. You should be able to put your button in all four corners of the screen along with having the panel on the top or bottom.

Why would anyone want their panel on the bottom of the screen?
About 90% of all computer users migrating to Gnome are very accustomed to the idea of having their panel there. And why shouldn't they be able to have it there?
