Places and Devices

Hi,
in my gnome-shell built as of a couple of days ago "Places and devices"
in overview mode is gone. Has this been removed, did I miss something in
the build, is there a hidden knob to turn this back on?
Same holds for "recent items". These were two things that made the
shell incredibly useful.
