Another 10cents piece ?

I don't agree with the sentence "even a big icon uses less space
than a word", and for one simple reason : our screens are mostly
rectangular and our windows are also. So a word of about 10 to 15
characters may perfectly better fit in a corner the screen,
because it is less high than an icon.

Personally, I prefer a word, whatever it would be.
Just because I look at the screen before clicking or moving the
mouse, and so, visually, when I click on the word, I'm already
waiting for some sort of results, that I'm not waiting for when
I see an icon on the desktop.

And, if I'm well remembering, this was one of the reasons of
KDE 4.0 rejects....
