Hi all, I suppose I should start by asking "does g-p-m already turn off single idle screens in a multiscreen setup?". Since I don't have such a setup myself, I don't know, but if g-p-m does, then you don't have to bother reading the rest of this e-mail. :-P This is following up on bug #347737 filed against Totem (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347737), which asks that other screens be turned off when one goes fullscreen in Totem. I was wondering if it might be a better idea to make this desktop-wide, and have idle screens turned off if they had no applications running on them. They could then be turned on one-by-one again when the mouse moves on them (as with a normal setup). As I said already, I don't have a multiscreen setup, so I've got no idea what I'm talking about really, but I thought it would be interesting to bring up anyway. Additionally, I apologise if I've posted this in the wrong place --- it was a juggle between g-p-m, g-s, and GTK/GDK. I hope I chose the right one. :) Cheers, Philip Withnall (This is a re-post of the message I accidentally sent to the GTK development list. Sorry for the mess.)
