That's a kernel bug. Are you running .21 or later?

Helping to find and isolate the problem would be advantageous.
Problems in code, generally don't fix themselves, without human
assistance.

Glad you found a solution, but kpilot is a bit behind with support
of current devices and applications (as is gnome-pilot and jpilot though).
