Look's like something quite usefull. It would be
great to be able to add stuff to the calender from the clock/calender
applet whatever the name of it is. Just right click a date 'add event'
and the evolution event editor pops up. That is something I would
like to see in gnome.
While you are at it ;)

Hi.
For an ordinary people like me, the computers calendar is not so much
used as it could. This has the effect that I don't even check my
calendar every day - and occasionally I miss a birthday or some other
appointment.
I thought that it would be nice if I was reminded of any events that I
have the minute I open my gnome session. The best solution that I came
up with is a pop-up, such is used by Mail Notification program and
others alike.
See the picture at:

(sorry the size of the image: 660 kB...)
The pop-up is originally from Mail Notification 3.0
(
http://www.nongnu.org/mailnotify) and the icon is from gnomes own icon
theme (in
ubuntu: /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/stock/document/stock-todo.png)
There should be a few options such as the duration and location of the
pop-up and how many events are shown (or rather how many days are shown)
Anyone else interested in this kind of feature?
What do you think is this doable? I like the interface of Mail
Notification and since it's free software could this be done by
combining code from that and the mini-cal applet that pops-up when you
click the clock-applet.
Of course this could be achieved simply by enabling the mini-cal applet
to show up in the start-up if there are any events for the day, but at
least in Finnish version it is not so clear at least in the case of
birthdays - all you can see is 'Whole day Birthday: ' and the name
itself doesn't fit in... But even this would be a huge improvement for a
user like myself.
Too bad I'm not a programmer, so I must rely to others for help.
Thank you,
Mikko Saarinen
