Well, I've tried using the gnome-session.sh script thoughtfully provided in
the support thingy, and what happens is:

Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
  serial 1145 error_code 8 request_code 72 minor_code 0

Same thing happens no matter who I login as ...

Checked all the other possibilities listed in the above doc ..permissions,
libjpeg, etc.

I actually had this problem as well and never figured it out. However, I
noticed that if I logged in as root I got the normal Ximian desktop (with
Nautilus complaining about being run as root of course). Hope that is at
least a pointer in the right direction.

Can anyone point me towards resources for help with installing Ximian
1.4 on
Solaris 7 on an Ultra 2? I've worked my way through various issues,
mainly
reorganizing space on disks so I could get everything downloaded ..
finally
got the installer to go to completion, but now when I try and log into a
gnome session, I just get a black screen and no way out.
