Re: Sound configuration problems

As far as a mail program, KMail is pretty good. However, I use the mail program that is installed with mozilla. I like it. When it comes to gnome resources, beats the hell out of me =]. When I have a gnome related problem, I ask on this mailing list. If it's any other linux related problem, I do a search on groups.google.com to see if anyone else has had the same problem and it has been solved.

Just wanted to say that my sound issue has been solved. Thanks for the help, I can't believe I didn't even think to check the bios! While I'm writing, are there any good support sites to put me through learning Gnome? I'm currently looking between www.gnome.org and the book Mastering Gnome that I bought recently. I'm currently using KMail, are there other mail programs that anyone would recommend me looking into? Thanks again!

If you have a new motherboard, you may be able to go into the BIOS and
change a setting there to disable your on-board audio. Check your
motherboard documentation. As far as SBLive! being the default, there
will be nothing else to default to once the onboard audio is disabled =].

Make sure you have SBLive support compiled into your kernel or as a
module. Good Luck!

Hi guys, I'm new to linux and am having a problem with my sound. I have
two sound cards, one being the onboard sound and the other being a
SBLive! card. I would like to make my SBLive! card the default sound
card. As I have it situated currently, my SBLive! and onboard audio are
both working, however, the onboard audio is being sent the default sound.
Is there a way to disable the onboard audio without opening the case and
switching a jumper? Is there a way also to make my SBLive! card the
default? Thank you!
