I can recommend the development release of AfterStep as well. This has
GNOME support.

I had too many instability/session management problems with
WindowMaker. AfterStep works well, and you can disable all the extras
so they don't get in the way of GNOME.

I was also unable to "switch" to WindowMaker from the control center,
but this works fine with AfterStep.
