Keybindings have been configurable for some time now (ever since our

Yes, gnome_config is one of the things that should be used with
--with-gnome. It shouldn't be too hard to do if someone has the time.

Yes, if you wan't to use gtk+ it's best to start from scratch and borrow
code.
