X terminal gets no login after Gnome install

Hi folks,

I have a setup where one box runs Caldera configured as an X terminal.  The 
other runs RedHat as the server.  Worked fine until I installed RH6 and gnome. 
 Now I don't get a login screen.

On the Caldera box, inittab runs "/usr/X11R6/bin/X -query geppetto"

Does gdm need something different?
