The problem is, some developers seem not to use the bug tracking system. The
panel and gnome-media people seem to be good about closing stuff but I
have a lot of old messages in there that haven't even gotten a response
along the lines of "Fixed in CVS" or "Not a bug". It's frustrating to feel
like you're sending suggestions into a black hole...
My suggestion is to mail the BTS and cc the mailing list to be sure that
_someone_ hears.
