I had this, or something very similar, happen to me. I stuck it as a bug
into Red Hat's bugzilla at
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=6497
(Yes, I know there is a Gnome bug-tracker, too. I just guess which one
different bugs belong in. I guessed here that it was a RH packaging
problem, but I'm open to correction.)

Well, I think this is part of the problem. The Gnome foot menu picks
up things to list from particular directories. In my case, it was
picking up things from a directory called /etc/X11/applink. The menu
editor, however, is not picking up things from there, so when I went
to delete the spare Gimp mention with the menu editor, I found only one
was listed, which was a bit of a problem from the "reducing two gimp
menu entries to one" point of view.
I think what you want to do is to delete the gimp.desktop file from
/etc/X11/applink. I'm not sure where the other gimp menu entry comes
from, though. Maybe you should delete the other one and keep the
/etc/X11/applink one.. :)
