GPPP applet

I used a script called pppsetup to setup my ppp installation in RH 6.0. 
Whenever I need to connect to the NET I type ppp-go and to disconnect 
ppp-off - and I can do this as a user other than root.
I setup GPPP applet, but it keeps giving me an error: pppd died unexpectedly 
- error message. Is this something related to security rights?
