Gppp applet

I'm sure this message has been posted before, but since I just subscribed 
the newsgroup I need to ask - every time I try to run Gppp I get a message 
that saids that pppd died unexpectedly.
I have been able to get to the net by means of using a program/script called 
pppsetup. All I do in the prompt is type ppp-go and it connects me - and I'm 
not root when I do it.
Is there a reason why Gppp gives me that - pppd died unexpectedly - message?
