Re: Gnome, gmc comments

Strangely I didn't see any replies to your message so I'll give you some
comments.

Window resizing is generally either the window manager's responsibility or
the app's. In Enlightenment for instance I can right click on the title
bar and select "Remember | Window Position" and "Remember | Window Size" (I
don't have it in front of me but it's something like that). I'm not sure
if Windowmaker has a similar capability - you might check the mailing list
archives if they're up.

There is a setting in the gnome configuration for choosing toolbar settings
Text Only/Graphic Only/Text and Graphic. Also some programs allow you to
set this in the preferences. If you have a favorite program that doesn't
do it I would contact the author and ask about it.

AFAIK the pager has a setting that does this. Click on the "?" to bring up
the settings - the setting is something like "Show tasks for all desktops".

Hmmm...I think it should die at logout. You might try removing the
windowmaker command from the .rc file that starts gnome-session if it's
there. Depending on what version you're on you can either use the Gnome
Configuration screen to choose a window manager or you can go into gnome
without a window manager and run the window manager - if you run it once
Gnome-Session should run it and shut it down automatically each time after
that.
