Actually, it's ltconfig and ltmain.sh that are almost completely different
(just similar enough that I get ~ 60 patch "hunks" from it).
It looks like the real problem is CVS packages that include generated files;
I've just gotten my nose rubbed in gtk+ including some files which promptly
get rebuilt when I do a make in gtk+/gdk (and then gtk+ breaks because the
differences are really X11R5 vs. X11R6 and gtk+ "knows" that everyone runs
R6). At least I know why CVS appears to be "schizoid"....
