--help works if compiled with -O0 or -g

today i tried to debug the --help coredump bug and compiled
libgnomesupport with -g for this reason. Using "-O0" also heals
libgnomesupport for me.
It seems to be a bug with optimizing. I use egcs-1.1 under redhat-5.1-i386.
