Gnome shouldn't try to shove a single language down anybody's throat. The
idea of a "standard" or "default" scripting language is healthy, but that
is no reason to outlaw other languages. And I have seen no suggestions to
that effect.

Until Perl and Tcl are implemented on top of Guile (snicker, snicker)
there is no good alternative to having several scripting languages.
