Gtk+ themes

I am having problems with gtk+ themes.
I have compiled gtk+ and gtk-engines without any problems and copied one
of the gtkrc's to /usr/local/share but whenever I run a gtk app it says :
/usr/local/share/gtkrc:31: error: unexpected identifier `engine', expected
character `}'
What's up?
