You are probably using a *very* old version of LibGTop (0.01?).

The problem was fixed long ago and it's now using scm_append ():

This version is not even working any longer with GNOME, so you should
fetch a more recent version either from CVS or from the GNOME ftp site
(0.25.0 is current).
