Print queue manager

Hi,
I was thinking about apps that I'd like to have, and a print queue manager
came to mind (an interface for lpq, lprm, etc and similar in style to the
Windows 95 Print Manager).
Has anyone started anything like this for Gnome? Does anything like this
exist for X, KDE, or any other environment? I'd be interested in writing
something like this.
