Re: Idea for next Journal

Hey All,

I added my article to the submission queue.

Here is just some random brainstorming I have been doing for the
article. If anyone can think of any questions/ideas, it would be
appreciated.

Cheers,

Tom

Pimlico Suite Article

Brainstorm

• Background about pimlico, who, what, where, when and most
importantly: Why make the Pimlico suite?
• Gnome maturing, moving away from reimplementing particular
windows/os x programs, to new solutions. For example we see that
Pimlico uses the EDS. People are often complaining that Gnome doesn't
seem to have any big idea goals, that say the KDE project has (with
KDE 4), it seems that we have reached a point where a lot of the
frameworks are in place, and we can now make new and exciting things.
• 10x10, although it's impossible to believe that Gnome would see such
a massive penetration on traditional desktops and laptops; do you see
Gnome gaining a leading role in non-traditional computing
environments?
• One of the positives of the platform convergence: Simple, easy to
use apps. What advantages do you see for Desktop users of the work
being done on embedded Gnome?
• Opened hand? Little bit of background about the company.
• Why is Gnome/GTK such an attractive platform for embedded
developers? Why do you think that Gnome is such a powerful platform,
that it is being adopted by projects/companies like OLPC or the Nokia
770, N800 and OpenMoko? What is it about Gnome that makes Opened Hand
use it?
