Thank you Behdad,

This certainly resolves my current issues, and I hereby request
ccollier gnome org as my official account name.

However, the questions I have posed have not been answered.  Why do we
limit our usernames to 8 characters?  Is there a technical,
philosophical or other reason behind the policy?  Why was the policy
created?  Is there documentation on the policy?  If so, where might I
find it?
