Re: Some translation review of strings in GNOME Software

Hallo Richard

A translator in my group (Kris) just gave this translation an update. I should mention, that it wasn't very updated to begin with, so the comments for the string might not be limited to the strings you just added. He said that in general he thought it was nicely internationalized and had only the following comments:

############################################################
General:
The (sub) category names are not consistent. Some are plural and some are not.

#. TRANSLATORS: longer dialog text
#: ../src/gs-shell-details.c:306 ../src/gs-shell-installed.c:162
#: ../src/gs-shell-search.c:109
#, c-format
msgid "%s will be removed, and you will have to install it to use it again."

-- "... to reinstall it ...", maybe?

#: ../src/plugins/gs-plugin-hardcoded-menu-spec.c:512
#| msgid "Software"
msgctxt "Menu subcategory of Science"
msgid "Medical Software"

-- Should be called "Medical" instead. This will be more consistent with similar entries.
############################################################

If you have any questions for these comments just send them to me, as I don't believe he follows this list.

Regards Kenneth

Hi all,

In the last few weeks we've been working hard on gnome-software so we
can present it as a technical preview for GNOME 3.10. As it's a
preview it's still in heavy development and ins't bound by the string
freeze or future hard code freeze.

So, as we can still modify source strings, I'm asking for some review
of the new strings in gnome-software. Please let me know of any that
are potentially difficult to translate, that need some more detailed
translator comments to make sense or that need ngettext'ing to make
sense for some regions. I'm open for ideas.

Either send me an email, or grab me on irc [hughsie] tomorrow. Thanks.

Richard.
