Hi,
Iranian Azeris has Persian (Farsi) as their second speaking
writing language so fallback to Persian comes quite naturally to
them!
Why would they want to fall back to their second speaking/writing
language when they have a chance to fall back to their native one
just written with latin? Is latin so disturbing to look at? I
cannot get it.
I am comletely agree with Metin,
I am a Turkmen (Iranian Turkmen) and not an Azeri. But I have more
than 100 Azeri freinds in university. All of them like (love) their
latin writing system (like all of Iranian Turkmens). Persian/Arabic
script is completely unable to cover all of Turk languages need.
Azeri and Turkmen are a vowel based languages and vowels is
the first missed things in Persian scripting.
Then I think the az_IR:az and tk_IR:tk is the best choice.
I like hear Metin and Amir.

I agree with you Gruban. az_IR is the realy best choise for our locale
name. The problem raised to our frend Metin should would have happened
anyway sooner or later.
About Arabic or Latin script: I belived in latin-script till a year ago
but now I am sure that Arabic script is realy better for us.
