Good question. Global politics is a very fascinating subject and I have
personally spoken about it with quite some folks at GU4DEC in Dublin last
year. However, I don't think it should be the main subject of a talk. For
the same reason we don't include a flag collection in GNOME: we don't want
the project to become politically biased some way or the other. And you
may be surprised what sort of people visit the conference, last year I met
a lady who introduced herself as a representative of the US dept. of
Defense(!).
In my opinion, GNOME is more about bridging gaps between different parts
of the world who may have radically different values, than about
leveraging technology to settle (perceived) political injustices. But
that's just the idealist in me talking. ;-)
