Abel, you missed the other point Christian was making -- if you don't
mark that string as translated, how do you discover that there was a
new string that might need translating?
Status pages help with that tremendously (that's the point of having
100% translations -- it's easier to keep track that way), but if you
just assume "cascading translations", there's no way that you find
out that there's a new string "Pick a color" for translation, unless
you go through all the strings all over again, in all the modules.
