What about changing in the configure.in references to gnumeric.desktop.in
as gnumeric.desktop.in.in that is, there would be a gnumeric.desktop.in.in
that will be generate a gnumeric.desktop.in with the proper executable
name; then that gnumeric.desktop.in will be the one listed in po/POTFILES.in
that generates a gnumeric.desktop with translations inside.
Maybe it would be wise to allso put a gnumeric.desktop.in in the CVS
(should be overwritten each time configure is run) so pot files can
be generated without the need to configure the whole package.

If the file is not listed in POTFILES.in as *.desktop.in it will do nothing
to put _Name and _Comment entries.
