You ever tried to pick your own keybindings from scratch? Even in
something as simple as Quake, it's not easy. Working out a logical and
consistent keymapping can be quite a bit of work. If this were done,
I'd want a "theme" style feature where I can save and load sets of
keybindings, with default themes of "Emacs", "Windows", and
"Macintosh". I doubt any keybinding functionality of reasonable
complexity could decently emulate vi. :)
