No it does not have to be, but when you get 800 pages to read nobody
will find the time. Therefore manuals should be short and to the
point. And reference manuals are clearly for looking up. So if you
want to know how to print you look up print in you references
manual. This can be done very quickly and smoothly with a good
help-browser and at the same time the size of the programs will no be
10Mb larger due to some wizard who talks to you and makes faces of you.
