Thank you for your reply. I'm investigating an error with the gnubiff applet which causes the user session to die and the libpanel documentation led me to think that I could use and 'out of process' applet to localise the error. David https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-panel/+bug/1876609
FWIW, Ubuntu 18.04 version of gnubiff has (my) patch to port it to in-process applet, see debian/patches/panel_applet_inprocess.patch. In Ubuntu ≥ 18.10, GNOME support was dropped completely because it used deprecated gconf (and upstream seems to be dead). In order to reintroduce it, it would need to be ported to GSettings and to the new libgnome-panel library. Also, it would be more useful if you uploaded the .crash file using apport-bug instead of simply attaching it. This way it would be automatically retraced on Launchpad. -- Dmitry Shachnev
