Yes. How can add mate's new brisk menu applet (https://github.com/solus-project/brisk-menu) to panel? I installed mate-applets. But it doesn't 

appear in applets window. Not sure why?

It was made specifically for mate-panel, so it won't work.
I suggest you try Cardapio: https://launchpad.net/cardapio which is very similar. Actually, Solus used to use Cardapio as its default menu, and they look pretty much alike. It's mostly unmaintained, but it still works.
