Hi Pranali,

First off, thanks for your interest in GNOME GSoD 2020. Can you point us
to your GitLab merge requests you have already submitted? That will help
us get a better idea if it's that kind of contributions we would like to
get scope-wise, and as a group we can also help with reviews if you need
them. 

Umang, thanks for following up. And you are totally right, this work is
really mostly about submitting merge requests against GitLab repos that
require user docs updates.

Thanks for your contributions. It definitely helps to get started via
contributions and that puts quite a edge in your application. So, indeed
you are on the right track.

Yes, I can understand any direct suggestions and feedback from mentors,
helps refining the proposal; But also, do not discount the communications
happened over the merge requests because that's what you will be engaged to
do 90% of the time during the season.
If those things are rolling along, it's a good sign :) Highlight your
contributions while finalizing your proposal for GSoD.

Coming back to your request at hand, I think you have researched and made
up your mind for the project you want to pursue, so I would suggest to just
start preparing the proposal. Is there a way to upload a draft proposal on
the GSoD web portal?
I am sure GSoC's web portal has one, but not sure of GSoD.

Since the deadline for applications is close, you can use  your best
judgement to align the proposal with the tasks and the estimated timeline
and upload it to the web portal (if possible). Maybe you might then get
some (last-min)feedback then :)
In parallel, continue your contributions on the things you have been doing.
That'll make sure mentors know your name, before they start going through
the applications they received for GSoD.

Generally GNOME is quite friendly and responsive community but, you can
guess times are a lot weird and each of us (including you) might be going
through a lot.
Best you can do, is to keep up the contributions and keep the timeline
thing rolling. :)

I think the best way is to start making a plan and break-down the tasks
required in order to achieve

have any specific questions and/or
inputs about it? Maybe then this list would be more useful to you.

I am writing to build an application for GSoD2020 with GNOME. After
going through the project ideas for GNOME, I'm most interested in the
following two projects: Content audit and gap analysis for GNOME - help
update App Help. Having gone through the project ideas listed at the
project ideas page, and the requirements for a technical writer, I feel
that I am fit for the position as I already have experience in technical
writing from my Outreachy project attempt for "Haiku". Also, I have worked
extensively on technical documentation projects in the course of my
internship at Airbus. As such I would like to talk to a mentor.

In the past, I tried to reach out to some of the folks for a
conversation, but I guess the best way to do it is to talk in more open -
and here I am.
