oracle: 8.0.5, with glibc patch, on a Redhat 6.0 system
glibc 2.1.1
egcs 1.1.2
The gnome setup is based on rpms that came with rh6.0, with the exception of:
gnome-libs-1.0.53-1.i386.rpm
gnome-libs-devel-1.0.53-1.i386.rpm
gnome-print-0.10.tar.gz

I am using a tnsname which I already know to work with other software.
I'm not sure if this matters, but I'm trying to connect to a remote server-
Oracle 8.0.5 for NT
I'd be happy to attach to a core file in gdb to send you a stack trace, but I
can't find the core file; is it being suppressed? How can I force a core
dump?
A transcript of my attempt to run gnome-db follows:
-----------
[jdb@young39 gnome]$ gdafe
gda-connection.c: 210: gda_connection_init called
gda-connection.c: 89: gda_connection_real_open called
