>From what I have seen so far of Gtk+ 2.0 and gnome-libs 2.0, the GNOME
2.0 platform will massively break binary and source compatibility
anyway. It's probably wise to get better about this at some point, but
preserving the API for bonobo alone is unlikely to help.
