Yes, I had to read many articles about the difference between monitor
calibration and profiling (and how many people new to CMS confuse both).

I see. I get it now. And indeed I notice a BIG difference on my overall desktop
when I load the ICC profile. The change on visual appearance of my screen -
when the calibration-part gets loaded (gamma & white-point correction) - is
considerably higher than the changes made when a color-managed app takes into
consideration the profile part (color correction).

I see, so the GNOME desktop (and practically anything X-related) takes
advantage of the information stored on the VideoLUT but I won't see anything
color-corrected (from the profiling part of the ICC) until a capable app is
configured to do so.
