System Software Quality Group (SSQ) is responsible for developing and implementing quality technologies/processes/tools to deliver system software to our customers and partners. We
perform performance/regression pre-integration testing for Solaris builds; functional and system testing for Solaris platform SW/FW/drivers, Oracle Solaris Clusters, and Desktop SW. We use/leverage these test processes/product knowledge to develop test suites/engineering practices to ensure that Solaris is a solid operating foundation for engineered systems and database appliances that run on top of it.
  
Job Requirements:
SSQ group is looking for an experienced software quality engineer to focus on "developing test suites/engineering practices to ensure that Solaris is a solid operating foundation for engineered systems and database appliances that run on top of it." The engineer will be responsible for:
  
* Designing and developing system/stress tests to stress test Solaris. Develop/use fault
   injection tools/test suites to test the graceful recovery of applications and OS
   under various fault conditions.
* Configuring hardware and software system according to customer scenario.
* Testing software applications. Developing, applying and maintaining quality standards
   with adherence to both internal and external standards.
* Troubleshooting issues as they may arise.
* Analyzing test results and recommending corrective actions. Bug logging and verification.
* Developing and executing software test plans. Analyzing and writing test standards and
   procedures. Maintaining documentation of test results.
* Working with other engineers both local and abroad.
  
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and/or supervise lower level personnel.
  
  
Additional Details:
  
Required Knowledge:
* Working experience on Solaris, OEL, Linux, and/or Windows Operating systems
* Strong debugging, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
* Programming Skills with either Perl, Unix Shell, Python, Java, C++ or another Object Oriented programming language
* Proficient in both conversational and written English
* Able to work on multiple projects in parallel
* Good communication skills and ability to work independently
* Familiar with software development and test processes
* Knowledge and experience with open source community and projects
  
Preferred Knowledge:
* Storage testing experience
* Oracle DB experience
* VM application experience
  
Years of experience:
* BS with 5+ years or MS with 3+ years
