Well, maybe the edgy cd would work for me; the feisty one wouldn't. As I 
recall the edgy livecd wouldn't boot on this computer.

At any rate, there are some instances I've seen online of people migrating 
from debian to ubuntu via apt-get. that doesn't mean it is now possible 
necessarily but apparently it has been done.
