Sorry, I forgot to mention this in my (second version) email. The
first e-mail includes some sentence that BrlAPI is currently
only available from brltty's subversion repository. I.e., it will
be part of release 3.3, I hope. Please see information
about the repository at http://mielke.cc/ (its on the download page).

I have no idea, never seen that before. Maybe Dave can answer this.
In any case, you'll need to try the repository version to be able to test/use
brlapi.
