I'd like to know why you need to use SQL. I'd like to make that
unnecessary for almost all situations, by providing specific easy
features.

However, you can always use SQL directly with the Postgres database
server, via the psql command-line tool, or via pygda inside a Glom
button script.

Yes, I would like to support multiple file types. We would need to store
a MIME type along with the data.

I don't think it's a very good idea to just refer to a file path,
instead of storing the whole data in the database, because not all file
paths will be available to all users. But it could be an option.

Fedora will tend to package the stable versions rather than the unstable
test releases. I think that makes sense.
